Organization Description

OHDD is a non-profit organization funded on May 2005 at 2e Plaine (2nd communal section) of Petit-Goâve in West department of Haiti. The objective of that organization is to provide sustainable development through the Haitian community by education, culture, sanitation, protection of the eco-system (environment), and the human right. And, as an organization located in a rural area, agriculture is our main compass.

Mission:

Committed to provide a sustainable development through the Haitian community, OHDD draws his ideas from the chaotic positions that live lots of people every day. As a network of people living and facing the same situation, we approach the community with attention and from the reality we make very goods analysis. So, in analyzing the situation, we notice that it is a “sine qua non » obligation for us (Haitian) to think differently and provide a sustainable change. It becomes for us an obligation to develop our potentiality by doing the education of population while protecting our devastated environment. To do all, we give a perspective to ourselves.
Ambition / Action Plan :

The ambition of the organization is:

  1. To have an autonomous Haitian community where we (Haitians) are not depend on the international community aid;
  2. To diminish and eliminate the quantities of the illiterates and children mortalities;
  3. To develop the Haitian natural potentiality Eco-system;
  4. To facilitate large intercultural relationship between Haitians and foreigners from wherever in the world;
  5. And then, to change the living condition of the population.

Current activities:
1.  From 2005 to nowadays OHDD takes the responsibility of 56 poor children. With the contribution of our members and the collaboration of a partnership, we have engaged in paying school fees (classes), buying clothes (uniform), buying school supplies (books, notes books, pens … ) for them while giving the education technical assistance to them. Now, (this year), more than 200 children/youths are already go to school and will begin to receive social assistance during all the year grace of our greats efforts and determination.

2. OHDD is engaged in developing young talents by organizing different kinds of socio-cultural activities, as literary clubs, football club and other.

3. Every year, OHDD makes nurseries and plants thousands of trees.

4. OHDD uses to make different kinds of products with Moringa as: oil, eating powder (with leaves), water purifying powder (with seeds), etc… A few times ago we used to sale the leaves powder in different places as boutiques and hospitals to treat malnutrition, anemia.

5. OHDD makes agriculture seminaries on the benefit of peasants of 2e Plaine.

a) Nursery management and soil conservation, including training making compost, pesticides and insecticides.

b) Environment protection, including planting and grafting;

6. OHDD makes seminaries to teach people how to protect themselves against currents sickness and natural disasters like HIV/AIDS, malaria.

Currents projects:

  1. Nursery and soil conservation;
  2. Seed bank with a micro-finance program on the benefit of Petit-Goâve farmers.
  3. Community garden in 2e Plaine to serve a model while we are teaching the farmers.
  4. Scholarship and social assistance project : to facilitate more children in 2e Plaine have access with school. Endow the country with more humane resources that will be able to produce better reflections from their educative capacity.  Ameliorate the living condition of the population there. All, by making formal and informal education of children.
  5. Fight against cholera: to endow people with reliable information about epidemic of cholera while training them on how to protect themselves against this scourge
  6. School building project: To facilitate more children in Haiti particularly in Petit-Goâve have access with school. Endow the country with more humane resources that will be able to produce better reflections.  Ameliorate the living condition of the population there by making formal and informal education of children. While learning them some professions as arts, tailor, music, and other.
